Selecting the right shipyard is one of the most consequential decisions in a newbuilding project. Based on two decades of experience across Asian yards, here are the key factors owners should consider.

## Technical Capability

Not all yards are equal when it comes to specific vessel types. Experience with your intended design, established relationships with equipment suppliers, and demonstrated quality standards should all factor into your decision.

## Production Capacity

Yard workload directly impacts your project. An overstretched yard may struggle to maintain quality and schedule. Conversely, underutilised facilities may indicate underlying issues.

## Quality Management Systems

Review the yard quality manual, inspection procedures, and non-conformance handling processes. A robust quality system is essential for consistent output.

## Communication and Transparency

Daily interaction between owner representatives and yard personnel is critical. Language capability, reporting systems, and willingness to address issues openly all contribute to project success.

## The Value of Site Representation

Independent supervision provides the oversight necessary to verify that contractual requirements are met. Our presence throughout the build programme ensures quality verification from steel cutting to delivery.
